1 350ml bottle of Coca Cola
1 cup of milk
Open the bottle of Coca Cola and fill it to the brim with milk.
Leave it untouched for about 12 hours. You’ll observe a clear liquid at the top layer and a brown suspension at the bottom layer.
When milk is added to coke, a chemical reaction occurs. The phosphoric acid in coke reacts with calcium in milk to form tricalcium phosphate (the precipitate that forms at the bottom) and hydrogen (the bubbles you see forming at the top).
No wonder there are some studies that say too much coke may increase chances of osteoporosis. Watch out before too much coke ‘clears’ out the calcium in your body!
Quickly cap the bottle after pouring the milk in to prevent the bubbles from overflowing.
Also, don’t shake the container or it will take longer for the separation to occur.
